General information
Ramón Bilbao is one of the most traditional and prestigious wineries in the Rioja Alta. Its winemaker, Rodolfo Bastida, was key in the renovation that shook Rioja in the 1990s to give the wines greater fruit presence and concentration. The enormous quality of Ramón Bilbao Crianza has, for decades, served to give prestige to the winery and the rest of its wines. This Ramón Bilbao Crianza 2019 is a single-varietal Tempranillo that comes from a memorable, warm and dry harvest, rated as Excellent by the Rioja Regulatory Council. It was made with selected plots from all over the Rioja region, harvested by hand in 15 kg boxes. The different plots fermented separately at a controlled temperature. After the final blend, the wine was aged for 14 months in American oak barrels. Founded in 1924 and located in Haro, the heart of Rioja wine, Bodegas Ramón Bilbao is a firm with an important presence in the local market that also has the blessing of international critics and a good bunch of awards for its products. Since 1999, the Ramón Bilbao winery has belonged to the Restoy-Zamora family, one of the most important beverage companies in Spain, which also owns wineries such as Mar de Frades, Cruz de Alba, Palacio de la Vega and Ramón Bilbao Rueda. Ramón Bilbao Crianza 2019 (D.O.Ca. Rioja) is perfect to accompany roast lamb, tuna, sardines, sausages and soft cheeses.
Opinion of its Creators
‘Ruby red colour with violet nuances. Frank and clean nose. Aromas of fruits, both black and red. Aromas of dried fruit shells, and floral notes. The barrel provides aromas of sweet spices, nutmeg, vanilla and even hints of cinnamon. On the palate it is pleasant, juicy. Of medium weight, medium acidity and integrated alcohol. In the retrosanal the fruity and spicy notes appear again.’
